Moving off Sendblue.

The short answer

Two to three days, and the binding constraint is a carrier, not a vendor — a physical eSIM takes 48 hours minimum to activate. Contacts, history and your opt-out list all export. Sequences rebuild. The one thing that does not move is the phone number: Tuco AI provisions a fresh one by ZIP code and does not port.

First — three reasons not to switch

We would rather you stayed than moved and regretted it. Sendblue is the better answer if any of these is true:

  • You need SOC 2 Type II or HIPAA. Sendblue is the only vendor in this category carrying both. Tuco AI has neither and says so on its limits page.
  • Your volume is inbound. Their AI Agent tier is $100 per line per month for 1,000 inbound contacts a day. Nothing here is close for a support or service desk.
  • Your existing number matters. We cannot port it. If people have it saved, that recognition is worth more than a price difference.

What actually transfers

AssetTransfers?Notes
ContactsYesCSV export, or straight from the CRM if that is your source of truth.
Opt-out / suppression listYesExport it first. This is the one you cannot rebuild.
Conversation historyPartlyExportable as data. It will not appear as a live thread on the new number.
CRM connectionYesOAuth, minutes.
Sequences and cadencesRebuildCopy carries; stop conditions and triggers need re-declaring.
WebhooksRebuildNew endpoint and signing secret.
Phone numberNoFresh eSIM by ZIP code. Tuco AI does not port.
Thread continuity with past recipientsNoNew number means a new thread. Plan the first message accordingly.

Day by day

  1. Before you cancelExport everything

Contacts, conversation history, and any opt-out list. Access to historical threads usually ends with the subscription, and the opt-out list is the one you cannot rebuild — losing it means re-messaging someone who asked you to stop.

  2. Day 0Order the line

Provisioned by ZIP code, not by guaranteed area code. Budget 48 hours minimum: a carrier activates a physical eSIM on a real iPhone. This is the only irreducible wait in the process.

  3. Day 0–1Reconnect the CRM

OAuth for HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Salesforce and Pipedrive. Re-point webhooks and verify the signature check against the raw request body — hashing a re-serialised payload is the most common failure and it fails silently.

  4. Day 1–2Rebuild sequences and import the opt-out list

Import suppression first, before any sequence is live. Then rebuild cadences. Stop conditions need re-declaring; they do not carry across platforms.

  5. Day 2–3Run both in parallel

Keep Sendblue live for a few days on a small slice. A reply that routes to a platform you have already cancelled is a lost deal, and it is the failure mode nobody plans for.

  6. AfterWarm the line, then scale

A new line starts at roughly 50 new contacts a day and that is the ceiling, not a ramp target. Scale by adding lines, not by pushing volume through one.

Frequently asked

How do I switch from Sendblue to another messaging provider?

Four steps. Export your contacts and any conversation history from Sendblue before you cancel, because access usually ends with the subscription. Provision the new line and budget 48 hours minimum — a carrier has to activate a physical eSIM and no vendor can shorten that. Reconnect your CRM, which is OAuth for HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Salesforce and Pipedrive, and re-point any webhooks. Then run both in parallel for a few days before you cancel, so a misrouted reply lands somewhere you can see it. The one thing that does not move is the number itself.

Can I keep my Sendblue phone number?

Not on Tuco AI. We provision a fresh eSIM by ZIP code rather than porting an existing number. If your current number carries recognition with your list — people have it saved, or it appears in past threads — that is a real cost of switching and you should weigh it. Sendara does port numbers, so if keeping the number is the deciding factor, they are the better answer and we will say so.

How long does the switch actually take?

Two to three days end to end for most teams, and the binding constraint is not us. A carrier has to activate the eSIM on a physical iPhone, which takes 48 hours minimum on their clock. CRM reconnection is OAuth and takes minutes. Sequence rebuild depends on how many you run. Do not schedule a campaign against a line that was provisioned this morning.

What does it cost compared to Sendblue?

Sendblue publishes $100 per line per month for its AI Agent tier, but that tier is inbound-first and cannot start conversations — their own pricing page lists full outbound messaging only under Enterprise, which is quoted on request. Tuco AI is $149 per month with outbound included, plus a one-time $335 setup, and publishes the price for every line count from 1 to 50. If your volume is genuinely inbound, Sendblue at $100 is cheaper and you should stay.

When should I not switch?

Three cases, and they are common enough to state first. If you need SOC 2 Type II or HIPAA, stay — Sendblue is the only vendor in this category with both and Tuco AI has neither. If your volume is inbound rather than outbound, their $100 tier is built for exactly that and is cheaper. If keeping your existing number matters, we cannot port it.
