Dataset scope

100+ B2B campaigns run on the Tuco AI platform between January and May 2026. Campaigns ranged from 50 to 50,000 recipients per send. Industries weighted to match the platform's customer base (skews B2B SaaS, agencies, ecommerce).

List quality filter

Only opt-in lists included. Cold lists (purchased lists, scraped data, unverified leads) excluded — they perform 4-6x worse and would skew the baseline. iMessage is a warm-relationship channel; we report numbers for the intended use.

Delivery measurement

Delivery defined as Apple's iMessage network confirming receipt to the sending device. Excludes recipients on Android (which fall back to SMS) and recipients with iMessage disabled.

Reply rate computation

Reply rate = unique recipients who sent at least one inbound message ÷ unique recipients who received the campaign. Positive-intent classification: NLP + manual sampling of 1,000 replies per campaign for calibration.

Comparison baselines

SMS benchmarks from Twilio 2026 SMS performance report and customer migration data. Email benchmarks from Mailchimp 2026 industry report and HubSpot 2026 State of Marketing.

Limitations

Self-reported by a platform vendor — performance numbers reflect customers who already chose iMessage. Skews positive vs a random sample of all B2B sends. Use as directional guidance, not gospel.

Frequently asked questions.

What is the average iMessage delivery rate?

iMessage delivers at 94-98% on opt-in lists, compared to 65-75% for A2P SMS after carrier filtering. iMessage uses Apple's encrypted network and is not subject to A2P 10DLC content filtering, brand registration, or per-message carrier fees.

What is the average iMessage open rate?

iMessage open rates run 96-98% across the campaigns analysed in 2026, compared to roughly 18% for marketing emails (Mailchimp 2026 industry benchmark). iMessages land on the lock screen and trigger the same notification pattern as personal messages.

What is the average iMessage reply rate for B2B?

On opt-in B2B contact lists (demo requesters, trial signups, ecommerce customers, ABM accounts that engaged previously), iMessage reply rates average 5-10%, with the top 10% of campaigns hitting 15-20%. About 25% of replies are positive intent — meaning interested leads who engage in real conversation.

How does iMessage compare to cold email for reply rate?

Cold email to the same B2B contact list averages 1-2% reply rate in 2026. iMessage, when used as a follow-up channel on already-warmed leads, averages 5-10%. The 4-5x lift comes from near-100% deliverability, 96-98% open rate, and dramatically lower friction to type back.

What is the average time to first reply on iMessage?

Median time to first iMessage reply on B2B campaigns is 14 minutes, with 60% of replies arriving within 1 hour. Email median time to reply on the same lists is approximately 19 hours.

How much does iMessage cost compared to SMS?

iMessage has no per-message carrier fee, no A2P 10DLC registration ($50-$1,500 plus brand approval), and no campaign approval delays (typically 2-6 weeks for A2P SMS). On Tuco AI, iMessage is included in the platform fee — there is no per-message charge.

What demo show-rate uplift does iMessage drive vs email reminders?

Across the campaigns analysed, layering iMessage reminders into an email-only reminder workflow lifts B2B SaaS demo show rates by 15-25 percentage points (e.g. from 58% to 78-83%). The 24-2-1 cadence (24h confirmation, 2h logistics, 15m heads-up) is the most consistent pattern.

What is the cost-per-demo reduction from adding iMessage?

B2B SaaS teams typically see 25-40% reduction in effective cost per demo after adding iMessage as a follow-up channel on existing inbound and outbound sequences. The savings come from recovering leads that responded to other channels but never booked — same acquisition spend, more booked meetings.

What is the recommended cadence for outbound iMessage?

For B2B outbound to opt-in lists, 3-4 messages over 7-10 days outperforms longer sequences. Two follow-ups per primary message is the maximum before reply rates degrade. For demo reminders, 24-hour, 2-hour, and 15-minute touches consistently outperform any longer cadence.

Does iMessage require A2P 10DLC registration?

No. iMessage routes through Apple's iMessage network, which is encrypted peer-to-peer protocol — not US carrier SMS infrastructure. A2P 10DLC, brand registration, campaign approval, and per-message carrier fees are all SMS-specific. iMessage skips the entire regime.
