Pipedrive Killed Its Messaging API — Here's the Live iMessage Alternative
The Channels API shut off Feb 1, 2026. Here's how to text from Pipedrive again.
Summary
On November 14, 2025 Pipedrive announced it was deprecating its Channels API (the Messaging App Extension), and it shut the endpoints off on February 1, 2026 with no drop-in replacement. Pipedrive preserved old conversation data as Notes. This post explains what broke, what didn't, and a live way to send iMessage from Pipedrive that logs every message and reply as a Note and Activity on the Person and Deal.

If you built a messaging workflow on Pipedrive's Channels API, it stopped working on February 1, 2026. The endpoints are gone, there's no native replacement, and your old threads are now frozen in the record as Notes.
This is what actually changed, what survived, and how teams are sending messages from Pipedrive again.

What Pipedrive shut off — and when
Pipedrive announced the change on November 14, 2025: it was deprecating the Channels API (the Messaging App Extension), the mechanism that let third-party tools register as a messaging provider inside Pipedrive. The endpoints were switched off on February 1, 2026.
In Pipedrive's own words, the goal was "deprecating the Channel API to concentrate on developing the next generation of our CRM." The endpoints removed included POST /v1/channels, POST /v1/channels/messages/receive, and the channel/conversation delete routes.
There was no drop-in replacement. Developers were told to "transition to an alternative solution before the deprecation date." No new messaging or omnichannel API was announced to take its place.
The
messengers-integrationOAuth scope still exists in Pipedrive's scope list, but its only purpose was to register a Channels/messaging provider — and that capability is dead. There's nothing to point it at.
Reach form-fills on iMessage, not just SMS
iMessage follow-up from Salesforce, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Clay. Higher response, no carrier throttling.
What survived: your history became Notes
The important nuance: your data wasn't deleted. Pipedrive stated that "all conversation data will remain preserved — any existing messages linked to deals or other entities will continue to be available in your account as notes, ensuring your communication history is not lost."
So the migration Pipedrive itself ran converted historical channel messages into Notes on the related records. You can still read the old threads; you just can't send or receive through the native channel anymore.
That detail matters, because it tells you exactly where messaging belongs in Pipedrive now: on the record, as Notes and Activities — not in a separate channel inbox that no longer exists.
The gap this leaves
If your team relied on the Channels API, you've lost the ability to:
- Send outbound messages tied to a Pipedrive Person or Deal through the native channel.
- Receive replies back into a native conversation thread.
- Build any new integration that registers as a messaging provider.
Email and calls still work. But the one-to-one texting surface that lived inside Pipedrive is gone, and there's no official path back.
The live alternative: iMessage, logged as Notes + Activities
Here's the approach that fits how Pipedrive now stores conversation history. Instead of a native channel, Tuco AI sends iMessage to your warm contacts and writes each message and reply back to the CRM as a Note and an Activity on the Person and Deal.
That's deliberately the same model Pipedrive used for its own migration — Notes on the record — so your timeline stays inside Pipedrive where the deal owner already works.
Why iMessage specifically:
- ~98% delivery to iPhone contacts, versus the ~68% SMS delivery that carrier filtering leaves you with.
- Roughly 3x more replies than SMS on warm audiences.
- No A2P 10DLC registration — iMessage bypasses carrier brand registration entirely.
- SMS fallback for non-iPhone numbers, so the message still lands.
How it logs:
- You send an iMessage to a Pipedrive Person (or from a Deal).
- The message is written to the record as a Note, with an Activity marking the touch.
- When they reply, two-way sync writes the reply back as a Note so the owner sees the full thread.
A few example plays:
| Pipedrive trigger | iMessage flow | Typical outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Person created from web form | First-touch iMessage from the deal owner, logged on the Person | Lead-response under 2 min |
| Deal → "Demo Booked" | Confirmation + 24h + 1h reminders, logged on the Deal | No-shows down 30-45% |
| Deal stalled 14+ days | Re-engagement nudge, outcome logged as an Activity | Stalled deals reopened |
| Inbound iMessage reply | Reply lands as a Note; owner alerted to take over | Nothing falls through the cracks |
These are typical ranges from iMessage follow-up on warm audiences — people who filled out a form, replied on another channel, or are existing customers — not guarantees, and not cold outreach. iMessage is a lead-to-close channel; sending to strangers tanks reply rates and risks Apple ID bans.
An honest note on availability
Today, the Tuco Pipedrive integration is a private integration we set up with you during onboarding, starting with select customers. There is no public Pipedrive Marketplace listing and no one-click self-serve install yet. If you want it, the path is to book a demo and request access — we'll show the flow and wire it up for your account.
Bottom line
Pipedrive's native Channels API is gone as of February 1, 2026, with no replacement, and your old threads now live as Notes. The cleanest way forward is to keep messaging on the record the same way Pipedrive does — as Notes and Activities — and use a channel your warm contacts actually answer. That's iMessage.

Frequently asked questions
When did Pipedrive's messaging API get deprecated?
Pipedrive announced the deprecation of its Channels API (the Messaging App Extension) on November 14, 2025 and removed the endpoints on February 1, 2026. Pipedrive said it wanted to concentrate on developing the next generation of its CRM. No drop-in replacement messaging API was offered.
What happened to messages sent through the old Channels API?
Pipedrive stated that all conversation data would remain preserved — existing messages linked to deals or other entities continue to be available in your account as Notes. The history is not lost, but you can no longer send or receive through the native channel.
Is there a replacement messaging API in Pipedrive?
No. Pipedrive did not announce a new messaging or omnichannel API to replace the Channels API. The messengers-integration OAuth scope still appears in the scope list, but its only purpose was registering as a Channels provider, which is no longer active.
How can I still send messages from Pipedrive?
Because there is no native channel, messaging tools now write to the CRM the same way Pipedrive preserved old threads — as Notes (and Activities). Tuco AI sends iMessage to warm contacts and logs each message and reply as a Note and Activity on the Pipedrive Person and Deal.
Is the Tuco Pipedrive integration self-serve?
Not yet. Today it is a private integration set up during onboarding, starting with select customers. There is no public Pipedrive Marketplace listing or one-click self-serve install at this stage. Book a demo to request access.
