Your Right to Delete Data

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data under various privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable regulations. This page explains how to exercise that right.

1. What Data Can Be Deleted?

You can request deletion of the following types of personal data we may hold about you:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, company name, and profile information
  • Usage Data: Activity logs, usage statistics, and interaction history
  • Content Data: Messages, content, and files you've uploaded or created
  • Payment Information: Billing addresses and payment history (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Communication Records: Support tickets, email correspondence, and chat logs
  • Integration Data: Data synced from third-party services you've connected
  • Marketing Data: Newsletter subscriptions, marketing preferences, and campaign engagement data

2. Data That May Not Be Deleted

Certain data may be retained even after a deletion request due to legal, regulatory, or operational requirements:

  • Legal Obligations: Data required to be retained by law (e.g., tax records, financial transactions)
  • Contractual Requirements: Data necessary to fulfill ongoing contractual obligations
  • Legitimate Business Interests: Anonymized or aggregated data used for analytics and service improvement
  • Dispute Resolution: Data relevant to ongoing or potential legal disputes
  • Security: Data necessary for fraud prevention, security, and compliance
  • Third-Party Data: Data owned by other users or third parties that you may have shared

If we cannot delete certain data, we will explain the reason and inform you of your rights regarding that data.

3. How to Request Data Deletion

3.1 Method 1: Self-Service Deletion (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your Tuco.ai account
  2. Navigate to SettingsAccountPrivacy
  3. Click on "Delete My Account" or "Request Data Deletion"
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your identity
  5. Review what data will be deleted
  6. Confirm the deletion request

Self-service deletion is processed immediately for most data types. Some data may be permanently deleted within 30 days.

3.2 Method 2: Email Request

If you cannot access your account or prefer to submit a request via email:

Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"

Include the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Email address associated with your account
  • Account username or ID (if available)
  • Specific data you want deleted (or "all data")
  • Reason for deletion (optional but helpful)
  • Verification information to confirm your identity

3.3 Method 3: Written Request

You may also submit a written request by mail. Include the same information as in Method 2 and send to:

4. Identity Verification

To protect your privacy and prevent unauthorized deletion requests, we require identity verification. We may ask you to provide:

  • Email address associated with your account
  • Account username or ID
  • Recent transaction or activity information
  • Government-issued ID (for sensitive requests)
  • Additional verification questions

We will only use this information to verify your identity and will not retain it longer than necessary.

5. Processing Timeline

We process data deletion requests as follows:

  • Immediate: Account access is disabled immediately upon request
  • Within 7 days: Most personal data is deleted or anonymized
  • Within 30 days: All requested data is permanently deleted (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Backup Systems: Data in backup systems may take up to 90 days to be fully removed

We will notify you via email when your deletion request has been completed. If we cannot delete certain data, we will explain why and provide information about your rights.

6. What Happens After Deletion?

After your data is deleted:

  • Your account will be permanently closed and cannot be recovered
  • You will lose access to all services and features
  • All associated data will be permanently removed from our active systems
  • You will not be able to recover any deleted content or data
  • Any active subscriptions will be cancelled
  • You may need to create a new account if you wish to use our services again

Warning: Data deletion is permanent and irreversible. Please ensure you have backed up any important data before requesting deletion.

7. Partial Data Deletion

If you only want to delete specific data while keeping your account active, you can:

  • Delete specific messages or content through the Service interface
  • Disconnect third-party integrations to remove synced data
  • Update your profile information to remove or modify specific data points
  • Unsubscribe from marketing communications
  • Request deletion of specific data categories via email to privacy@tuco.ai

8. Third-Party Data

If you've connected third-party services (e.g., Shopify, CRM systems), deleting your Tuco.ai account will:

  • Remove the connection between Tuco.ai and the third-party service
  • Delete data synced from the third-party service that we stored
  • NOT delete data in the third-party service itself

You must contact third-party services directly to delete data stored with them.

9. Data Export Before Deletion

Before deleting your data, you may want to export a copy for your records. To export your data:

  1. Log in to your Tuco.ai account
  2. Navigate to SettingsPrivacyData Export
  3. Click "Request Data Export"
  4. We will email you a download link within 7 days
  5. Download your data in JSON or CSV format

10. Appeals and Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we handled your deletion request, you have the right to:

  • Appeal: Contact us at privacy@tuco.ai to appeal our decision
  • File a Complaint: Contact your local data protection authority
  • Legal Action: Pursue legal remedies available under applicable privacy laws

For EU residents, you can file a complaint with your local supervisory authority. For California residents, you can file a complaint with the California Attorney General.

Q: Do I need to delete data from third-party services separately?

A: Yes, deleting your Tuco.ai account does not delete data stored in third-party services. You must contact those services directly.
